Wonders shall never end. This timeless aphorism was on the lips of residents in Zimbabwe’s Gokwe region after they were left perplexed when a woman gave birth to a frog-like creature after suddenly going into labour while at home.
The 36-year old woman, Precious Nyathi, who was eight months pregnant, with her husband Nomore, 39, kept the creature in their bedroom for several days before a local leader was tipped to intervene in the matter, The Herald reports.

The expectant mother was said to have been due at the end of the month. She left doctors at the Gokwe District Hospital shocked when she informed them that she had given birth to a frog.
“She was our patient who would come for routine reviews together with other pregnant women.”
“We were shocked when she visited the hospital in the company of her husband and some neighbors saying she had delivered a frog,” a source at the hospital was quoted as saying.
The husband, Nomore said they held on to their “child” because they were still confused and did not know what to do with it. “We were all confused following this hellish experience and until today, I don’t have the peace of mind.”
When the villagers discovered that the couple still held on to the dead malformed child, they tipped the local traditional leadership who then ordered the ‘frog’, which had shrunk in size, be burned before a stunned crowd.
“It’s a hellish experience which will haunt me all my life,” Precious said.
